About Me:

Lina Breining is an NYC based composer for film and media from Austin, TX. With a background in classical piano, strings and percussion, Lina’s musical style seeks to blend the traditional lush Hollywood orchestral style with her own musical voice, featuring lyrical melodies and always with a strong focus on conveying story. Lina recently completed scoring her first feature film with independent filmmakers in Los Angeles. Lina is currently working as a freelance composer for the NYC based ad music house, Storefront Music, while interning simultaneously with The Association of Music Producers (AMP) and previously Duotone Audio Group. In 2023 and 2024, Lina worked as an orchestra production assistant on the 76th & 77th Annual Tony Awards. In addition to composing, Lina is a skilled orchestrator & arranger, music producer, sound designer, and video editor. Lina is a recent graduate of

New York University's Screen Scoring Masters program ('24).

Lina has collaborated with numerous independent filmmakers, as well as student filmmakers from the American Film Institute, NYU's Tisch School of the Arts, the School of Visual Arts, and the University of Texas at Austin. Additionally, Lina's music has been heard internationally and at various film festivals including the Oscar qualifying AFI Fest and The Rhode Island International Film Festival. Her orchestral works have been performed by the NYU Orchestra and the Budapest Symphony Orchestra. Lina's works have been praised and critiqued by notable film composers including: Blake Neely (You Netflix Series), Jeff Beal (House of Cards), Marcelo Zarvos (Wonder), Pete Nashel (I, Tonya), and Carlos Rafael Rivera (the Queen’s Gambit).

Lina has studied under numerous concert & screen composers including Mark Suozzo, and 5 time Emmy Award winning composer, Jamie Lawrence. Lina holds a Master of Music in Music Theory and Composition: Screen Scoring from New York University. Lina holds two bachelor degrees (Bachelor of Science in Fine Arts in Arts and Entertainment Technologies, Bachelor of Arts in Music Composition) from the University of Texas at Austin. When she’s not busy writing, Lina can be found exploring a new park, or attempting to pet the nearest dog.
